Frame event 2010 Cressing Temple, Essex

This was a perfect venue for this event !

Outbuildings and practice targets for double head axes, Gransfors, mainly

Now let's rest a bit, wich one ?

This one ?

Or this one ?

Pick one...

The big mean joints breaking  machine

Broken joints, tenon and mortice on pulling...

 What ? Yeah, they stand a great force, double peg=5.5 t, 1 peg= 4 t

Over engineered, but very ugly and unsuitable in timber framing
but stud to 9.6 t

I like this one very much, stud to 4.6 t
6 mm dried pine dowels !!!

And broken....

It has created a void in the back of the beam, strange...

More to break next year, ahh this year :)

Saturday 14 May 2011

My first project...

  The site before framing...

The crane with the mighty oak...

Simple post and beam...

Naked posts...

A very nice day for framing

The second floor

Yes is a very long way down, don't looook... down
 There is the church
A nice view

The whole oak frame is erected in 3 days, this is the huge  floor
Time to put the deck in place
Down are the walls coming...
More walls
Stone and timber...
 A green house
Window for opportunity
Some studding

 Brace ready for plaster boarding
The roof
End gable and ladder

Braced roof and trusses

Is  a line somewhere there...
From inside

The slate is on, let's move in !
